Behind an ever traveling emerald green door (you'll find it when you really need it, but it never seems to be in the same place in the palace) lies a quaint office, often slightly ajar with a few notes of music beckoning guests inside.

In the center of the room lies an ornate cedar wood desk, cluttered but just short of messy, with various sheet music piled on top. The bookcases on each side are in a similar state, books shelved away neatly were it not for the lack of any semblance of alphabetization.

The boss of this domain can often be found with his feet up with no regard for decorum; a casual enough atmosphere for casual enough chats, surely.

Those who venture into the palace to seek out the emerald green door will find it's different than usual, sturdier, with a particularly bright sheen and emblazoned with an insignia.

The door is also always closed, though whether it's locked or not depends on when you visit.

Hahaha, of course, of course! I mean who wouldn't? [ Literally everyone else, Hamelin. He closes the drawer he was rummaging in and focuses on Yeager. ]

Would it be flattering to say you're exceeding my expectations? [ A general "you" here by how he says it, with a pleased grin. ]

Considering that two people were killed, someone got away with murder, and you had a bird execute the person who was innocent, I'd be surprised if we weren't performing adequately, at least!

[Like. Sure, he was mad about being targeted by that, but it was really damn funny. SQ definitely deserved better and he has some lingering complicated feelings about that, but objectively speaking, it was definitely funny(?).]

Though there is something I wanted to ask you about that... I believe you said that you picked SQ because of all the abstaining votes, ja? May I ask why you chose her?

[ At least Yeager understands (?). ]

He could've gone about it a different way but...he got the job done so I'm not complaining. Seen too many birds peck someone's organs out anyway. Maybe I should have the other bird do it next time?

[ Nageki doesn't deserve this. He shrugs with a carefree smile. It's a thought for sure. ]

Sure I'll tell you, but indulge me first. Why do you think I picked her and not you? [ He could have perhaps picked someone else mind, but that's not why Yeager is here, is it. ]

[Yeah, he figured the merciful death angle would have been significantly more annoying to Hamelin if he didn't have a second execution to watch...

As for that question, Yeager's answer is quick; he's already considered this one quite a bit.]

Because her death would hurt the others more. She was someone who seemingly didn't do anything wrong and wasn't all that suspicious to begin with. Someone like me wouldn't be as entertaining for them, and it wouldn't work nearly as well for those who abstained to feel like they failed me.

[Objectively speaking, he's just not as upsetting to sacrifice as SQ.]

Mmm half-points! Despite what you said, a good amount of people did vote for her. Being popular is sometimes just the same as being noticed, you know.

But the other part of the answer is that you're more interesting to me. I can appreciate a guy who puts on a good show. And I know what it's like to be hated for who you are, for what you do.

[ ...exhibit this entire game perhaps. His answer is cheery though, because apparently he doesn't take all the vitriol he gets personally, or he's really sure of himself. ]

[That's also a mood, being hated can be pretty fun when it's your own doing, but that also plays into Hamelin's first point - any attention can be good attention. This whole case probably has a lot that Yeager could reflect on as it relates to the way he presents himself to others, but is he going to actually sit there and think about it? Hell no!!]

Well then, I'm pleased to keep putting on a show for you~ I truly do appreciate the chance to keep being entertaining!

[If he's going to die, he wants to do it on his terms. He can continue playing along, and he certainly doesn't have an issue putting on a show.]

Compose, mostly. But I'm not always cooped up in here, though before you get any bright ideas, no one's breakin into here again. [ He doesn't sound angry when he says it, more like, "that sure did happen". ]

[Someone broke in?? And didn't tell the rest of us??? Shocking...... Well anyway, he nods at that!]

I can imagine how deeply unpleasant that was! I imagine they'll be punished for that?

Well, it wasn't against the rules. And I'm not sure exactly who it was, and sometimes I do like to play fair.

Really? I'm surprised they managed to get the drop on you... But I suppose I understand that, they were technically still playing by the rules, even if that goes against the spirit of them.

Will you be adding that to the rules, then?

Mmn...not sure I see the point. Anythin' actually worth having I keep on me. [ Maybe he shouldn't be saying this much, but he smiles anyway. ]

And I hate rules, besides.

They are quite annoying and constraining, ja? You only put these in place because it was necessary, I'm guessing?

Right, right, or else the story might have gone off the rails before it even started!

That makes sense though, and I do apologize if my questions have been out of line. I can't help but be curious about all of this!

Though there is something else I'd like to ask about... relating to the last trial. I assume you won't tell me who was actually responsible for Gin's death?

[He can dream, but he doesn't expect it!!]

But my more pressing question is: did they already receive their wish?

I'm hard to insult, comes with pretty much hearing it all already. [ If he dropped the whole murder bit he might be a pretty easy going guy? Maybe. ]

Do you look good in a dress? [ That's a response befitting that question, Yeager. But onto the more serious business. ]

Ahaha, that assumes their wish is something I could grant in this world in the first place. Some of 'em are pretty specific, yeah? Can't exactly guarantee one thing in their story while they're still here, you know?

[The question gets a brief laugh before he's content to move on.]

Ja, that makes sense! I wasn't sure exactly how it would work, but I see now. So if their wish is something specific to their world, then they'd just have to wait until the end of the story like everyone else anyway. Understood!

[Of course, that might not be the case, but there's really no way to know right now.]
