Meetings
In the center of the room lies an ornate cedar wood desk, cluttered but just short of messy, with various sheet music piled on top. The bookcases on each side are in a similar state, books shelved away neatly were it not for the lack of any semblance of alphabetization.
The boss of this domain can often be found with his feet up with no regard for decorum; a casual enough atmosphere for casual enough chats, surely.
Those who venture into the palace to seek out the emerald green door will find it's different than usual, sturdier, with a particularly bright sheen and emblazoned with an insignia.
The door is also always closed, though whether it's locked or not depends on when you visit.
in the right place this time
But he went to open up the drawers. Was there anything inside of them? ]

Hm. Huaisang likely has some thoughts on that but he'll be interrupted by a soft chitter, and if he looks over to the bookcase a small brown mouse is staring right at him, it's nose twitching. ]
nhs freaking out over rats but trying his best anyways
He left them and after double checking there was no hidden compartments or anything hidden underneath the parchment, Huaisant will head over to the bookcase to get a closer look. Were there more rats over here? What kinds of books were here in the first place? Anything that would catch his interest? ]

There's no other mice in sight, but the one who noticed NHS does climb on top of one book in particular its ears flicking. If a mouse could squint, it certainly seems to be squinting. It's probably an unwelcome sight but the bit of paper sticking up from the book the mouse is standing on might be another story. ]

[ He'll try to look closer at the paper anyway. Can he see what it was, exactly? ]

But that leaves the paper free for the taking, so.
What's written on the worn piece of paper is pretty familiar: it's a list of all those held captive here in alphabetical order. Worth mentioning this isn't handwritten, but embossed like the fancy menu courses during the welcome banquet. What is interesting however is that most of the names have been crossed off except for a select few: ]
Adora
Edelgard von Hresvelg
Lucifer
Tenn Kujo
Raven
Wei Wuxian
stupid long ass meta but you can skip to the '--' to actual action
He had no idea what this list meant, but it was in this room and his hands were trembling as he took it. Huaisang wasn't someone who jumped to conclusions so he couldn't just shove the damn thing in everyone's face; it'd make everyone eat each other alive, and while the last fuck up reinforced his pathetic status to make him seem like less of a threat...
Well, if he did this, someone might actually want to lop his goddamned head off if he didn't play this right, and someone found out. And when it came down to it, he wanted his head on his shoulders, even if he had a hard time seeing himself live through this (he was weak, and without his unimpressive cultivation abilities, for one thing.)
Part of him was a little scared what this list meant. He already trusted so little, and had just decided to start trusting Wei Wuxian as his friend again. What if he turned on him just like San-ge? He didn't appear the same anymore, and he was weak. He wouldn't be able to stop it.

Okay, Huaisang resolved he needed to stop freaking out. He needed to figure out who to approach with this. He should probably discuss this with at least four people, maybe in the same room...so he'll pocket the list. He's sure that Hamelin would probably notice it's mcgone if he did, but he needed it as proof in case someone asked. He wished he had a hint what this list meant.
Anyway, before he left was there anything else notable hanging around with these books? Or anything else he could see with his back turned from the desk, facing the doorway? No secret entrances seemingly lying beyond the bookcase? ]
godspeed Huaisang
How much does he want to risk staying in here? ]
no subject
He really wants to investigate! So, he'll do a quick compromise:
Huaisang will try to see if he can garner that there's something else to the bookshelf or something to the room, and if it's not something he can get in 30 seconds to a minute, he'll skadaddle without doing much else about it (he had a pocketwatch now!). Even if he can see that there's something? He'll still skadaddle within that time frame.
What will be the results, fam? ]

Sometimes the rewards of investigation are just an incredibly suspicious list, it's fine. ]
