Behind an ever traveling emerald green door (you'll find it when you really need it, but it never seems to be in the same place in the palace) lies a quaint office, often slightly ajar with a few notes of music beckoning guests inside.

In the center of the room lies an ornate cedar wood desk, cluttered but just short of messy, with various sheet music piled on top. The bookcases on each side are in a similar state, books shelved away neatly were it not for the lack of any semblance of alphabetization.

The boss of this domain can often be found with his feet up with no regard for decorum; a casual enough atmosphere for casual enough chats, surely.

Those who venture into the palace to seek out the emerald green door will find it's different than usual, sturdier, with a particularly bright sheen and emblazoned with an insignia.

The door is also always closed, though whether it's locked or not depends on when you visit.

That was a plus! But it's your wish and your history, the parts of it I skimmed anyway. There's no point in me lying to you 'bout that—I got info on everyone to make the calls I needed to, but it's not like I know your entire history.

That'd be a lot to keep straight in my head, and I have enough up there already.

[ ... oh. That's... actually a massive relief. The idea of somebody else having access to his entire background including the unsavory accounts of violence inflicted on him instead of by him had been weighing heavy on McGillis' mind. Even though there is no telling what Hamelin knows, it's just... good that it isn't all of it. ]

Well, consider me flattered then. I don't take any pleasure in treason precisely, but my dedication to my wish is another matter. I will return to my world victorious, whatever it takes.

[ McGillis will nod solemnly to that. It's always going to take power to make a change - and power sometimes needs to be demonstrated through violence. ]

At least publicly, yes. Privately, I am not so sure. Even Nie Huaisang has a lot of doubts about the future unity of this group. The party was an attempt, but he entirely believe in it from the start either.

Ah well, there's no reason to break someone's heart unless you need to. Hearts are pretty useful, after all.

[ It's a detractor at home because people know he is not a marriage prospect, but here it hardly counts as a real relationship. ]
