he likes her obviously, though it wasn't really like-like until she reaffirmed that he is hers. cause he didn't even take himself seriously then, but once she mirrored it back to him later he was like. oh.
he knows they wont have a happy ending and thats okay, but he's always been as much of an opportunist as he is an optimist. if he can save just her, then thats more than worth everything.
