he totally picked them because they're both 2 guys who went the job done and also personally not be broken up about it. that part is important bc a.) it means its less work for him and b.) he...doesnt really want to break someone whos not already broken? at least when hes thinking clearly/not in complete piper mode.
honestly theyre a bit too good at their jobs but thats kind of a first world problem? he still would and (has in a sense) stuck his neck out for them because even if theyre not fairy tales he considers them part of his familigia so. protecc.
and said absolutely nothing because he'd actually prefer people to think bad about him, even among his capos. all that aside, this isnt a relationship hamelin has really had before; he's more used to playing with the fast and loose types and mcgillis is just...the opposite of that in every way.
its gone better than he thought? to the point where hes like man maybe i should have listened to scarlet more? oops. he appreciates the commitment here even if he would not be upset if mcgillis turned on him. just as long as he makes it out ok?
...like he cant even promise that right now but he wants to promise that because he is a don first and foremost and he meant that. also kinda wants to headpat him at some point when hes being all serious but he'd have to jump on his desk for it.
Ahaha. He gets it? As much as he will allow himself to get anything anyone is feeling because.
Oh man a cursed existence!!!! It's kinda interesting the different (and similar) ways they've played it, though. Hamelin ain't gonna judge either way though because sometimes the best(?) you can do is keep moving to the beat of a drum no matter what soundtrack it plays.
he feels like if he took jack home with him, scarlet would have a stroke. hansel and gretel would love him, though.
